**HMS Postdoc Forum**
When: Thursday, April 5, 2012 | 4:00-5:30pm
"Bridging the theorist/experimentalist divide: how can we work together to do better biology?"
All postdocs are invited to join us for this open discussion, in which we will explore how to combine the contributions of both theoretical and experimental approaches to make new discoveries in biology. We will have a panel of postdocs who have theoretical backgrounds, or who have transitioned between theoretical and experimental approaches. We will discuss the difficulties of communication between scientists of very different backgrounds, and look at concrete examples of how theory has been used to increase our understanding of a biological system. We hope these discussions will lead to a better understanding of what theory can do for biology, and may even help to establish some new collaborations.
About the Forum: The HMS Postdoc Forum is a postdoc-driven event series to promote interdisciplinary scienitific discussion. Postdocs will have the opportunity to: engage in stimulating interdisciplinary
scientific discussions; initiate new collaborations; and network with their colleagues across different departments.
