**What**: This hands-on workshop will cover the basics of data visualization using [Seaborn](https://seaborn.pydata.org/), a library for the Python programming language. We will cover how to create plots using numeric and categorical data, as well as the creation of multi-panel figures for data exploration and presentation.

**Why**: Seaborn is a great data visualization choice because it provides a high-level, user-friendly interface that allows users to create visually appealing and informative statistical graphics with minimal code. Its wide range of built-in plot types, polished default themes, and flexible customization options make it a powerful tool for both data exploration and data-driven reporting.

**How**: This is a free **1 hour** hands-on workshop.

**Where**: Online via Zoom (link provided upon registration).

**Who**: This seminar is open to all Harvard affiliates from all disciplines, and the public research community.

**Prerequisites**: Attendees don’t need much experience with Python, though a basic familiarity with the language will be helpful. We’ll want to get started right away, so please make sure to install JupyterLab or Jupyter Notebook (<https://jupyter.org/install>) prior to arrival. Alternatively, attendees are welcome to use Google Colab ([https://colab.research.google.com](https://colab.research.google.com/)) if they have existing Google accounts. Please contact [James Adams](mailto:james_adams@hks.harvard.edu) if you encounter any difficulties with setup.

**Instructor**: [James Adams](https://library.harvard.edu/staff/james-adams), Manager of Research and Data Services, HKS Library and Research Services

Bring your data visualization questions, and join your peers to meet new people and learn new skills in a welcoming and encouraging environment!
