Mentor Training Series: Introduction to Mentoring & Aligning Expectations

Workshop Description: In this session participants will have the opportunity to participate in a panel discussion on how to set expectations with mentees.
By the end of the session participants will be able to 1) identify different roles that research mentors can play and prioritize those roles based on student needs; 2) discuss how to effectively establish mutually beneficial expectations for the mentoring relationship and how expectations between mentors and mentees can differ; 3) define and discuss the use of mentorship compacts to set expectations and facilitate open and transparent communication with mentors.
Series Description: The DF/HCC CURE and UMass Boston U54 REC Programs will be hosting a series of workshops focused on mentorship development and shared practice for current, past and prospective mentors. This is a six-part workshop series, running Nov. 2020-May 2021. We encourage you to attend all workshops in this series.
