"Critical thinking and good investigative practice across the disciplines - The R3ISE Graduate Science Program at Johns Hopkins - and beyond"
The problems besieging the biomedical sciences are deeply rooted and improvements in graduate education need to be part of the solution. The idea behind the R3 Graduate Science Program at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School Public Health came from the realization that we needed to focus on a formal approach to teaching the philosophical basics of science, comprising epistemology, ethics and methods. The R3 program's name is inspired by the three core norms of good scientific practice - rigor, reproducibility and responsibility. The program’s mission is to bring more critical thinking, interdisciplinary collaboration, and practical ethics considerations into graduate student training in biomedicine, health, engineering, and technology.
