DESCRIPTION:<p><span><strong>Speaker: </strong>Aimee M Hollander, PhD (she/her)Director, HMS Curriculum Fellows Program</span></p><p><strong>Landing the Role: Teaching strategies for faculty applications and interviews&nbsp;</strong></p><p>This hybrid mini course is designed to support postdoctoral scholars as they prepare for faculty position interviews and teaching responsibilities. Through a combination of in-person and Zoom sessions, participants will explore key topics including:</p><ul><li><strong>Understanding the Academic Job Market</strong></li><li><strong>Developing a Values-Based Teaching Philosophy</strong></li><li><strong>Pedagogical Strategies for Student Engagement</strong></li><li><strong>Designing an Effective Teaching Demonstration</strong></li></ul><p>The course emphasizes practical application. By the end of the program, attendees will leave with a polished teaching philosophy statement and confidence in presenting an engaging teaching demo.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p><strong>Session 4: Delivering and Refining Your Teaching Demo (In Person)</strong></p><p><strong>Description:</strong><br>In this interactive session, participants will practice delivering their teaching demonstrations in a supportive environment. The focus will be on simulating real interview conditions, including engaging with “students” (the cohort).&nbsp; Participants will troubleshoot common challenges such as time management, handling difficult questions, and overcoming performance anxiety. Each participant will present a 15–20 minute demo and receive structured feedback from peers and facilitators using a rubric aligned with faculty search expectations.
