2022 CURE Mentor Training Series

About the Series: The Dana-Farber/Harvard Cancer Center (DF/HCC) and UMass Boston Research Education Core (REC) Program, in collaboration with the HMS/HSDM Office for Postdoctoral Fellows, are offering a series of mentor training workshops focused on mentorship development and shared practice for current, past, and prospective mentors. Emphasis will be placed on exploring your mentoring style, inclusive mentorship practices, and providing guidance to junior mentees (such as undergraduates). Certificates of completion* will be provided to participants who complete the mentor training series.

*Certificate of Completion: Attend Jan 20 (Introduction to Mentoring) and Apr 14 (Addressing Diversity & Inclusion) workshops, plus at least any two others from the series.

For the past 20 years our programs have provided high school and undergraduate students training opportunities in STEM through full-time mentored, hands-on summer research experiences. Our sessions are founded on evidence-based curriculum published by CIMER as well as our own experiences in the space of mentor and student training.

About the Partnership: Since 2003, the UMass Boston–Dana-Farber Harvard Cancer Center Partnership has focused on addressing health disparities in minority populations and on improving research, training, and outreach opportunities for students, faculty, and scientists. The partnership reducing cancer and cancer disparities. It also provides undergraduate, graduate, and postdoctoral trainees to engage in cancer-related, mentored research experiences. The partnership continues to significantly expand opportunities for researchers and talented students, especially those from underrepresented backgrounds, in four broad areas of cancer investigation—basic, clinical, nursing, and population science research.

Sessions will be held on Thursdays from 1:00-2:00pm over Zoom.
