Through a combination of in-person and Zoom sessions, participants will explore key topics including:</p><ul><li><strong>Understanding the Academic Job Market</strong></li><li><strong>Developing a Values-Based Teaching Philosophy</strong></li><li><strong>Pedagogical Strategies for Student Engagement</strong></li><li><strong>Designing an Effective Teaching Demonstration</strong></li></ul><p>The course emphasizes practical application. By the end of the program, attendees will leave with a polished teaching philosophy statement and confidence in presenting an engaging teaching demo.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p><strong>Session 1: Understanding the academic job market (Zoom)&nbsp;</strong></p><p><span><strong>Description:</strong></span><br>This session provides postdoctoral scholars with a clear roadmap for navigating the faculty job market. Participants will learn how the search process works, what hiring committees prioritize, and how expectations differ across institution types from research-intensive universities (R1) to primarily undergraduate institutions (PUIs) and state colleges.
