Harvard Medical School Postdoctoral Recruitment Opportunity
Recruitment Event: TBA
Application Deadline: May 15, 2022
____________________________________________________________

The HMS/HSDM Office for Postdoctoral Fellows, along with the Office for Diversity Inclusion and Community Partnership, are holding a Virtual Postdoctoral Recruitment Opportunity (PRO) for select PhD, MD, or MD/PhD students who are nearing the completion of – or who have recently completed – their studies and are considering a postdoctoral position in biomedical sciences as the next stage in their career development. This opportunity will allow participants to establish networking connections, as well as participate in a career and professional development workshop. Those selected will gain insight about research opportunities at HMS and connect with current faculty of interest who may have a postdoctoral fellowship position available in an appropriate 0-18 month timeframe.

BENEFITS

This virtual event will allow students to meet with, and present their work to, potential mentors in their fields of research who either have, or anticipate having, positions in their labs in the near future. Fellows will also have the opportunity to participate in a career and professional development workshop.

ELIGIBILITY

  • Late stage* students in MD, MD/PhD, or PhD (or equivalent) programs OR those who have recently completed their degrees (*approximately 0-18 months from expected graduation)
  • Applications from women and minority candidates historically underrepresented in the basic and social sciences are strongly encouraged

PARTICIPATING FACULTY AND DEPARTMENTS

Participating mentors and positions will be listed HERE - please continue to check this page as new postions may be posted until ______________. You can select up to five (5) faculty mentors. All faculty are members of the Pre-clinical Science Departments, Harvard Program in Therapeutic Science, and the Wyss Institute at HMS and HSDM. *To minimize confusion, applicants should communicate directly with the Postdoc Office until matched with a research faculty.*

APPLICATION PROCESS

Interested candidates must complete and submit a short application where they will upload 1) a Statement of Interest (similar to a Cover Letter) briefly discussing their interest, their research interests, and future goals as a postdoc at HMS/HDSM and 2) an up-to-date CV. Candidates will also have the opportunity to identify up to 5 faculty members/labs with whom they would be interested in working. APPLY HERE Please note: Application completion does not guarantee you an interview or offer of a postdoc position. Any recruitment meetings with faculty will be scheduled per their interest and availability.

RECOMMENDATION LETTER

One letter of recommendation from the candidate’s doctoral studies advisor or mentor is required. The letter should address the candidate’s likelihood for success in a postdoctoral position, emphasizing both strengths and areas for growth. To be submitted separately HERE or emailed to postdoc_office@hms.harvard.edu.
