Session Description: Short-term research experiences are how most young aspiring scientists begin their foray into research. Successfully designing and managing short-term research projects is of utmost importance since they serve as the first and formative experiences for young trainees. In this workshop, we will consider elements that support design and implementation of successful short-term research projects and hear from a panel of experienced mentors on their own personal experiences working with a variety of trainees on short-term research projects.
Series Description: The Dana-Farber/Harvard Cancer Center CURE Program and UMass Boston Research Education Core Program, in collaboration with the HMS/HSDM Office of Postdoctoral Fellows, are offering a series of mentor training workshops focused on mentorship development and shared practice for current, past, and prospective mentors. Our sessions are founded on evidence-based curriculum published by CIMER as well as our own 20-year experience in the space of student training.
Training is focused on:
- Exploring Mentorship
- Effective Communication
- Inclusive Mentoring
