Part 1 - LMA Session - Undergraduate Research Fellowships & Writing Recommendation Letters / Developing Research Projects with Undergraduates/Diversity and Inclusion
Workshop facilitator: Anna Babakhanyan, PhD, Undergraduate Science Research Advisor FAS Science Education
Workshop Description: The first part of the workshop focuses on undergraduate fellowship applications (including summer programs) and writing recommendation letters. By participating in this workshop, you will learn which fellowships are available to Harvard undergraduates to support their undergraduate research. Through a discussion of case studies, you will examine the role of the mentor in the application process, and how to write descriptive and accurate letters of recommendation. The second part of the mentoring workshop focuses on developing undergraduate research projects. Mentoring an undergraduate can be both rewarding and challenging. In this workshop, you will learn how to design undergraduate-friendly research projects, set appropriate expectations, and foster effective communication. We’ll discuss several cases studies to explore these topics in more detail.
Registration is open only to Harvard-affiliated individuals: postdocs, grad students, researchers and faculty (including those working at Harvard hospitals and institutes).
Please use your Harvard email or institutional email address when registering.
Part 1 is offered multiple times during the 2021-2022 year, you need to attend only once.
This workshop series is sponsored by the FAS Science Education Office, for more details vist the website
