This class is part of the Research Data Management Seminar Series
Most of the raw and analyzed data we generate in the lab exists as digital files. Organizing your data in a way that preserves essential research information and ensures long-term value is critical. One of the important components of successful research data management is to establish a filing (or directory) structure for your records. Filing structures enable research processes to be more transparent, make it easier for investigators to determine where files should be saved, and ultimately make retrieval and archiving more efficient. Through a slide presentation and an interactive exercise, this session will introduce key concepts such as file directories, file naming, and metadata files, and help you get started organizing your data.

Feel free to bring your lunch!
